A Portrait of Mr Weimar... Elin Wikstrom
at NADiff
Elin Wikström
Born in Västerås in 1965
Lives in Göteborg
"A Portrait of Mr Weimar..." (1998)
Ever since she brought a bed to a supermarket and lay around there doing nothing for three weeks in "What would happen if everyone did that? (1993)," Wikström has consistently realized projects in which she transforms her surroundings by being the very medium.
In "The Out of NowHere Foundation (1996)," she raised the admission fee by 1 krone, explaining the way she would use it and set up a booth for the audience to make suggestions.

In "Returnity (1997)," Wikström trained the audience to ride a bicycle which runs backward.

In "A Portrait of Mr Weimar- The Man Who Every Thursday at Seven Made a Dish for Himself and Mr Matzner in the Kitchen at Kellelrmanstrasse 87 (1998)," she told a story about Mr. Weimar, who she got to know through a newspaper ad, using picture cards.

Wikström is a leading figure representing Scandinavia in the field of relative art, who discloses and visualizes the truth of the ordinary surrounding social structure.
