Recke's works are inspired and created by his love and desperate search for art.

In "Pistraction Skater-Klein (1996)," Recke's homage to Yves Klein, he painted his nose red, got on a skateboard and crashed into a gallery wall. Another example is series of drawings describing imaginative scenes in which Recke places the artists he admires. A video work, "Knowing You, Knowing Me" is a record of his interactions with the famous American artist, Robert Morris.

Recke also involves his audience in his search for art. He called fifteen strangers on the phone and discussed his art in "Return of Innocence (1996-).

"Often I only show my own desperation in the subjects of art. In this project I'm trying to take people into my search," Recke said. His latest work is "4-Clover Field."
