Gautel transforms familiar scenes, and the way we see the world, by slightly modifying them with image processing and texts.

In Nudes, 1991-1994, black and white photography, Gautel removes clothes from the sex symbols of the 1940's and 1950's cinema; Jane Mansfield, Marilyn Monroe, Greta Garbo and others, and overlaps their images with those of the war-time nightmares.
