Paris is filled with energy for new art in every era. In the beginning of the 20th century, Matisse, Picasso, Modigliani, Foujita and the Surrealists gathered in Paris. In the latter half of the century, Informel artists and Nouveau Réalistes such as Yves Klein explored provocative art in the city. Paris has always been the center of artistic creation. As we are entering the 21st century, Paris is now once again brimming with excitement.
"Paris en Création" will show the latest works by young artists in their 30's, working in and around the city, visualizing their out-of-the-ordinary worlds which originate from their everyday lives. These artists take us into the frontier of visual imagery utilizing photography, video, and new media, such as digital image processing; or produce the pop and poetic spheres through sensory sculptures and installations. This is the latest contemporary art from Paris, which is similar to, yet different from, the works of the same generation of young Japanese artists. |
